My Story

Andrea D. Steen is a native of Selma, AL. For the last 19 years, she has served in several areas of social work. After graduating from Alabama State University, 2004 with a Bachelor’s in Social Work Degree, she briefly worked with the Department of Human Resources of Alabama. Andrea relocated to Michigan and wanting to further her education and learn more in social work, she attended Wayne State University, Detroit, MI and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Interpersonal Therapy. 

After graduation, she worked with individuals dealing with substance use disorders at Millennial Treatment Services, a methadone clinic in Michigan. One year later, she decided to relocate back home to Alabama. There in Selma, AL, Andrea worked as a youth and family outpatient therapist before being transferred to work with the adult outpatient population for Cahaba Center Mental Health, Selma, AL. After six years and wanting to grow and do more in social work, Andrea accepted a position at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. In October/2020, Andrea was able to obtain her master’s level licensure in social work. 

Now Andrea runs her private practice, Pathway Center for Psychotherapy. What Andrea loves most about therapy is being able to help people reach their fullest potential despite any type of mental illness or trauma they may have experienced.

Alongside of working with clients, Andrea also works as a Primary Therapist in a Detox Center for Substance Use to help and assist those experiencing any type of mental health crisis. 

In her spare time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her daughter, Sydney Marie, watching movies on Netflix or having manicures and pedicures on self-care Sundays, and getting good food with friends. Andrea and her daughter reside in Atlanta, GA.
